Throughout our Flags for Heroes campaign, we've had the privilege of learning about the incredible veterans who have served our country with courage and dedication. These stories, filled with sacrifice and resilience, serve as a powerful reminder of the true meaning of patriotism.
We’re honored to share the story of Wayne Pugh, a retired Air Traffic Control Senior Chief whose dedication to service and leadership left a lasting impact on all who had the privilege of serving with him.
Story submitted by Alan Martin “I had the honor of serving with Air Traffic Control Senior Chief (Retired) Wayne Pugh on the USS John F. Kennedy. As a new Chief Petty Officer, Wayne quickly became both a mentor and a dear friend to me. It would be hard to find anyone who served with or knew Wayne who would have anything less than the highest praise for him. Wayne was a mission-focused leader with an exceptional heart, deeply caring for those he served with, especially those under his leadership. Going above and beyond his duties, Wayne volunteered to put himself in harm's way by serving alongside Marines in Iraq. His dedication went far beyond what was required of his position. In my 20 years of Naval service, I can't think of anyone else who had such a lasting impact on me. I am honored to call him both Brother and Friend."
Thank you, Wayne, for your honorable service, sacrifice, and dedication.
