Throughout our Flags for Heroes campaign, we've had the privilege of learning about the incredible veterans who have served our country with courage and dedication. These stories, filled with sacrifice and resilience, serve as a powerful reminder of the true meaning of patriotism.
We’re honored to share the story of Daniel W. Lester, a dedicated Marine who served nearly a decade as an Amphibious Assault Crewman.
Story submitted by Victoria Carpenter “Daniel served in the USMC for almost 10 years. His MOS was an Amphibious Assult Crewman. He absolutely loved serving his country, in fact after 911 he wanted to join the Marine Corps but promised his parents he would graduate HS before doing so. Daniel is his Uncles namesake who proudly served in the USMC during Vietnam and was KIA. He has always had a sense of pride in his families rich routes in the military. He served in OIF deployed to Iraq (numerous deployments) as well as OEF Afghanistan (year long deployment as an Embedded Training Technician) working with the National Afghan Army. Daniel honorably discharged from the USMC in 2012 after multiple injuries he sustained from combat deployments no longer allowed him to operate and deploy. He has honorably served his country and still continues to do as a civilian working with student and youth athletes in strength and condition sports training. He has volunteered coaching youth football, and is an active member of his sons sports youth programs. Daniel is kind, loving and has a huge support system around him, his family routes with in the military are very strong. We've participated in local Veteran events in our community and township since he got out of the Marine Corps as that connection and comradery is amazing and we have continued this tradition with our own son! He is a truly inspiring individual whom everyday I am so grateful and thankful to have as my partner and my soul mate."
Thank you, Daniel, for your honorable service, sacrifice, and dedication.
