Throughout our Flags for Heroes campaign, we've had the privilege of learning about the incredible veterans who have served our country with courage and dedication. These stories, filled with sacrifice and resilience, serve as a powerful reminder of the true meaning of patriotism.

We’re honored to share the story of Steven Pazdur, a remarkable Navy veteran whose ten years of service left an indelible mark on his fellow sailors and the many lives he touched.

Story submitted by Paige Pazdur “Steven served ten years in the Navy. He was a co-pilot for hovercrafts (LCACS), transporting Marines from the ship to land. He ensured all personnel and equipment were safe during operations and missions. He rose to the rank of a Chief during his third enlistment, which was quite remarkable given his time. His advancement spoke highly of his leadership and character in and out of uniform. He volunteered during each of his four-year terms to stay on sea tours and was always ready to deploy, never taking shore duty during his service. He has been to over thirty countries and has always volunteered while underway on deployments for foreign relationship-building efforts and various volunteer work. He mentored his junior sailors by encouraging them to return to school, utilizing their benefits. He would stay late at work when advancement exams were upcoming to help his sailors study and prepare for their boards and tests. Steven was an exemplary leader who put people first and always treated others how he wanted to be treated. Steven and I have been married for over ten years as high school sweethearts. We just welcomed our first baby, a daughter, a little over a year ago after years of fertility struggles."

Thank you, Steven, for your honorable service, sacrifice, and dedication.
