Throughout our Flags for Heroes campaign, we've had the privilege of learning about the incredible veterans who have served our country with courage and dedication. These stories, filled with sacrifice and resilience, serve as a powerful reminder of the true meaning of patriotism.
We’re honored to share the story of James Duff, an extraordinary 84-year-old veteran whose life embodies resilience, sacrifice, and unwavering dedication.
Story submitted by Jessie Mitchell “James Duff is 84 years old. He’s seen a lot and been through a lot. From farm boy to Air Force to Dad, & Stepdad. He’s the embodiment of resistance and fortitude. He worked on the night shift as a MP with his German shepherd named King by his side. He was humbly known for taking jobs no one else wanted, putting his duty to his country first. Not only did he serve his country during critical times but he also raised 3 families. Out of those three families only 2 are biologically his children. However if you ask him, all 8 are his children. He had always supported our troops and his families. His loyalty to country and family is rich within his blood. Service is so embedded within him; when asked why he's done such things, he’s says “It’s just what you do.” Never a second thought about it. Certainly not a selfish one. He’s an amazing and remarkable man. His mindset and determination are unmatched. After losing both wives,( most would give up and dig their grave) he still keeps his head held high and his heart open, for all of his children and his country. I honestly don’t know a more deserving person than him. He’s still extremely humble and grateful for everything in his life. He’s always thinking of others. He gets very little to no recognition and I strongly believe it’s long overdue. His selfless nature makes him a perfect candidate to win!!"
Thank you, James, for your honorable service, sacrifice, and dedication.
