Throughout our Flags for Heroes campaign, we've had the privilege of learning about the incredible veterans who have served our country with courage and dedication. These stories, filled with sacrifice and resilience, serve as a powerful reminder of the true meaning of patriotism.

We’re honored to share the story of Michael J. DelPizzo, a 22-year Air Force veteran who embodies unwavering dedication to his country and fellow service members long after his military retirement.

Story submitted by Win DelPizzo: "I believe my husband, Michael J. DelPizzo, a 22-year veteran of the Air Force, who continues to serve his community and fellow veterans long after his retirement deserves to be recognized. Not only is he a proud veteran who flies two American Flags 24/7/365, but his days are filled with service to other veterans. His primary outreach is building cremation urns for indigent veterans or those veterans whose cremains have been abandoned on funeral home shelves. He has brought this project to the State Prison in Raiford, FL teaching the Incarcerated Chapter of Vietnam Veterans how to make the urns…making them feel useful and valued. He performs “Final Salutes” at a local hospice center, donning his uniform, reading a citation thanking each dying veteran for their service, and giving a final salute. He makes and donates embroidered eagles/flags for the non-profit ONU (Operation New Uniform) for their fundraising efforts. Over the years, Oliver North and Alan West have been presented with an eagle/flag. Mike sounds TAPS at events held at Jacksonville National Cemetery, and provides urns for MIAP (Missing in America Project) ceremonies held quarterly at 2 national cemeteries in FL. Mike also serves as Vice-Chairman of the SCJNC (Support Committee at Jacksonville National Cemetery), stands flag lines with PGR (Patriot Guard Riders) for fallen veterans, and is a member in good standing of both the American Legion, and the VFW."

Thank you, Michael, for your honorable service, sacrifice, and dedication.
