Throughout our Flags for Heroes campaign, we've had the privilege of learning about the incredible veterans who have served our country with courage and dedication. These stories, filled with sacrifice and resilience, serve as a powerful reminder of the true meaning of patriotism.

We’re honored to share the story of Matthew Tierson, a Marine Combat Veteran who has transformed his experiences into meaningful support for his community.

Story submitted by Brittany Tierson “My husband is a Marine Combat Veteran having served in Iraq. Last year he took over our local VFW as Commander. He has experienced so much joy with the highs with increasing membership, assembling packages for our deployed troops, hosting a Wounded Warrior Hunt, and so much more. But he’s also experienced the ugly, with his PTSD rearing its ugly head more often due to recalling his experiences to his peers. Which has encouraged him to host a Buddy Check every 22nd of the month. He has been doing this for a year now and each month there is a new face.My husband is a blue collar man with a young family who says what he means and means what he says, he has gained the respect and appreciation of all of those around him and I would love to take a moment to appreciate him and all that he has done both in his military and veteran career."

Thank you, Matthew, for your honorable service, sacrifice, and dedication.
