Throughout our Flags for Heroes campaign, we've had the privilege of learning about the incredible veterans who have served our country with courage and dedication. These stories, filled with sacrifice and resilience, serve as a powerful reminder of the true meaning of patriotism.
We’re honored to share the story of Billy Coble Jr., a retired First Sergeant (1SG) in the U.S. Army who dedicated his life to serving his country.
Story submitted by Crystal Faricy-Coble: I would like to nominate my husband for this for several reasons, one of which is his being so humble regarding his service. He retired from the U.S. Army after 23 years of service as a Combat Medic where saving the life of any injured or wounded service member was paramount. You’ll never once hear him tout about his service or even hear him say he considers himself a hero, even though he embodies the very definition of one. After he retired, it was important for him to continue to be of service to his fellow veterans in a new capacity so he joined a group called the Combat Veterans Motorcycle Association. This allows him the opportunity to maintain bonds with other veterans who served in combat while focusing on the mission of the association to help veterans from any branch of service in several capacities through various nonprofit organizations. I think for someone to serve our country for that many years putting their life on the line through more than one combat tour deciding to then join a group that gives back to veterans in need exemplifies the true nature of service he continues to provide. It’s my honor to share a small part of what he did while he was in the service and to highlight what he continues to do to give back after retiring from the army. Some people wait their whole lives to meet their hero, but I’m lucky enough to be married to mine! Please see the link I’m attaching regarding the association he is a part of to better explain what they do! Thank you in advance for your consideration of my nomination for my forever hero."
Thank you, Billy, for your honorable service, sacrifice, and dedication.
