Throughout our Flags for Heroes campaign, we've had the privilege of learning about the incredible veterans who have served our country with courage and dedication. These stories, filled with sacrifice and resilience, serve as a powerful reminder of the true meaning of patriotism.
We are honored to share the story of Jeffrey Baker, a dedicated veteran who served in the Air Force as a Senior Airman with the 66th Civil Engineering Squadron in Germany.
Story submitted by Barbara Riley “Mr. Baker enlisted in the Air Force upon high school graduation. He was a Senior Airman (E-4) attached to the 66th Civil Engineering Squadron at Sembach Air Force Base in Germany. After leaving the Air Force, he received a BS in Exercise Physiology and further his studies in Abnormal Psychology and Criminal Law. He began working with the PA Department of Corrections at SCI-Graterford as an Activity Specialist but moved from there into positions of unit management. He was selected for a newly created position of Veterans Service Manager of which only five exist in the state. Grateford was replaced by SCI-Phoenix and now has a dedicated Veteran Service Unit designed to improve the quality of life for its veterans and help them receive qualifying services. The veterans themselves have embraced the VSU concept and expended it thanks to the leadership of Mr. Baker. He has served as a beacon of hope to those in darkness and he works tirelessly to bring success to those who will one day re-enter society."
Thank you, Jeffrey, for your honorable service, sacrifice, and dedication.
