Throughout our Flags for Heroes campaign, we've had the privilege of learning about the incredible veterans who have served our country with courage and dedication. These stories, filled with sacrifice and resilience, serve as a powerful reminder of the true meaning of patriotism.
We’re honored to share the story of Bruce Mallick, a father whose 20-plus years of service in the US Army included tours in Vietnam, Germany, and Panama.
Story submitted by Bruce Andrew Mallick Jr “My dad served over 20 years in the US Army and served a tour in Vietnam, 2 tours in Germany and a tour in Panama. He also was an ROTC instructor and mentored over a hundred men and women who became officers. I followed in his footsteps and served in the Army stationed in South Korea and with the 101st Airborne Division. He came and jumped with me on my 5th jump at Airborne School and gave me my “Blood Wings” on the Drop Zone. After retiring from the Army, he used his GI Bill to get a degree in Special Education and taught school for a few years. He was also active as a leader in Boy Scouting when my brother and I were Scouts and he coached YMCA soccer for over 20 years as well. I realize that I am just a tad bit biased, but I can’t think of someone more deserving of a flag in honor of his service."
Thank you, Bruce, for your honorable service, sacrifice, and dedication.
