Throughout our Flags for Heroes campaign, we've had the privilege of learning about the incredible veterans who have served our country with courage and dedication. These stories, filled with sacrifice and resilience, serve as a powerful reminder of the true meaning of patriotism.
We’re honored to recognize Asahel Parmelee, a Vietnam War veteran who served his country as an Airborne Ranger with courage and distinction.
Story submitted by Lisa Parmelee: “My favorite father-in-law served his country with honor in Vietnam as an Airborne Ranger. A few years ago, he was inducted into the URI ROTC Hall of Fame. It was through this ceremony (and following years of observing him and his character) that my daughter became interested in pursuing a military career. She is now MIDN 4/C T. Parmelee at USNA. He played a very inspirational and encouraging role for her. Without him, she would not be where she knows she belongs. I am so thankful for the role he has also played in encouraging me in my career and leadership development. Proud to be his daughter-in-law."
Thank you, Asahel, for your honorable service, sacrifice, and dedication.
